How the Fantoss points engine works

The Fantoss points system rewards every cricket action — runs, boundaries, wickets, catches, stumpings, run-outs and economy bonuses. The engine is the same across T20, ODI and Test formats, with format-specific tweaks for strike rate and economy. Read it once and your selection decisions start to make more sense.

Batting points

Run scored: +1 (all formats). Boundary (4): +4. Six: +6. Half-century: +8 (T20) / +4 (ODI) / +4 (Test). Century: +16 (T20) / +8 (ODI) / +8 (Test). Duck (batter/wicket-keeper): −2 (T20) / −3 (ODI) / −4 (Test).

Strike-rate bonuses apply in T20 and ODI: above 170 SR (T20) or above 140 SR (ODI), a +4 bonus; below 70 SR (T20) or below 50 SR (ODI), a −2 penalty. Tests do not use strike-rate bonuses.

Bowling points

Wicket (excl. run-out): +25 (T20) / +20 (ODI) / +16 (Test). LBW / Bowled bonus: +8. Maiden over: +4 (T20) / +2 (ODI) / +1 (Test).

Economy bonuses apply in T20 and ODI: below 5 ER (T20) or below 4 ER (ODI), a +4 bonus; above 11 ER (T20) or above 7 ER (ODI), a −2 penalty. Tests do not use economy bonuses.

Fielding points

Catch: +8. Stumping: +12. Run-out (direct hit): +12. Run-out (assist): +6.

Fielding points are format-agnostic — same in T20, ODI and Test. The catch bonus applies per catch, so a 3-catch innings in a Test match scores +24 from catches alone.

Captain and vice-captain multipliers

Captain: 2x the player's total points. Vice-captain: 1.5x the player's total points. The multiplier is applied at the end of the match after all per-action points are summed.

Choosing the right captain is typically the highest-leverage decision in any lineup. Default to a player whose role guarantees touches — an opener, a death-over bowler or a designated finisher.

Tie-breakers

In the event of a tie, the team with the higher captain's points wins. If the captains are also tied, the team with the higher vice-captain's points wins. If both are tied, the team that locked first wins.

Tie-breakers apply within a single contest. Across contests, ties resolve by the published contest rules (split prize pool, random draw, or carryover to the next contest).

Format-specific tweaks

T20: strike-rate bonuses apply above 170 SR / below 70 SR. ODI: above 140 SR / below 50 SR. Test: no strike-rate bonuses; instead, runs and wickets carry the same value as ODI.

Economy bonuses: T20 below 5 ER / above 11 ER. ODI below 4 ER / above 7 ER. Test: no economy bonuses. Test matches use over-rate bonuses for bowlers instead.

Frequently asked questions

Does the captain multiplier apply to fielding points?

Yes. The captain multiplier applies to the player's total points, which includes batting, bowling and fielding.

What happens if my captain does not play?

The captain's multiplier is not transferred. The captain row shows zero points and the multiplier is lost. This is why reading the brief matters.

Are points updated in real time?

Live points update after every over. The scorecard shows every player's running total plus a small badge that highlights the captain's contribution.

Does the points system differ between contests?

The published points system applies to all contests. Special contests (Super Over, rain-shortened) may carry format-specific tweaks published in the contest rules.

How do I report a points discrepancy?

Raise a customer-care ticket from inside the app with the contest ID and the player name. The desk verifies against the broadcast scorecard and corrects within 30 minutes.

Are economy bonuses the same across formats?

No. Economy bonuses apply in T20 and ODI; Tests use over-rate bonuses instead. Read the contest rules for the specific format.
